The Strawberry Inn + 10 Things To Do in Strawberry, AZ

April 9, 2017

Last week we spent three days in Strawberry, Arizona (about 2 hours north of PHX) and had a blast. This trip was different in so many ways and is probably the first “relaxing trip” we have ever taken. We left on Wednesday and stayed until Friday afternoon (Thursday was Deuce’s birthday so it was the perfect excuse to getaway)! We loved that we didn’t have a set schedule and were really just able to explore and enjoy it all.

I highly recommend taking your family (or just your spouse) up to Strawberry for a trip. Even if it’s just for one night!! We stayed at The Strawberry Inn and did so many fun, family friendly things. I am so excited to go back! (Yes, we have been home for three days and are already planning a trip back… That’s how you know it was a good one!!)

Complete Guide To Strawberry, AZ:

Where To Stay: The Strawberry Inn

The Strawberry Inn is a small 8 room hotel in the heart of Strawberry. It is recently renovated and our room was just gorgeous. It looked like a room that Joanna Gaines inspired and was farmhouse chic in every way; from the shiplap to the metal bedframe to the decor! The rooms are sooooo inexpensive (ours was the most expensive at $110/night). We had a porch swing in front of our room that we swung and relaxed on every day of our trip. I am so glad we decided to stay at The Strawberry Inn. It was such a fun experience. (Use code “garcia10!” at checkout for 10% off your room!!)

Where To Eat: Old County Inn

After we checked in to our hotel on Wednesday night, we needed to find a place to eat and the hotel owners had suggested Old County Inn (in Pine, AZ which is about 7-10 minutes from our hotel). Based on the name, I wasn’t super impressed but we decided to give it a try. And OH. MY. GOSH. I would probably drive the two hours up to Strawberry JUST to get another Meat Pie. It was so good and the atmosphere was amazing. We sat outside and there were heaters (it was chilly) and stringed lights. And at the end of our dinner, a pack of elk appeared across the street. It was a magical experience!

Where To Eat: Mama Joe’s

We had Deuce’s birthday dinner at Mama Joe’s (it’s right across the street from The Strawberry Inn so we walked)! It’s a small Italian restaurant that has a mom and pop feel and we enjoyed dinner and dessert!

Where To Eat: Andy’s Dog Cart and Little Scratch Bakery

On our way back home, we stopped in Pine at Andy’s Dog Cart for some hot dogs and Little Scratch Bakery for a blueberry lemon loaf! They are owned by the same couple and even have a cute little store with personalized, wooden signs! The hot dogs were delish and my husband and kids loved the loaf!

Where To Eat: Pine Creek Fudge

I got plain old chocolate fudge and it was SO YUMMY. My husband loved his mango smoothie and the kids loved their ice cream! The owners are super sweet!!

What To Do: Fossil Creek Creamery

This was probably the highlight of our trip!! Fossil Creek Creamery is a goat and llama farm and we had the best time petting all the goats and hanging out with the llamas! We were so sad because we missed the baby goats by A WEEK!!! A few of the goats are pregnant and this next weekend, they are allowing people to come in and bottle feed the baby goats! That’s on my bucket list LOL. If you’re in Strawberry, you MUST take the kiddos to see all the cute animals and buy some goat fudge and soap!

What To See: Strawberry Schoolhouse

This is the oldest school in Arizona and was built in the 1800’s! So fun to go see it!

There are so many more fun things to do, but we ran out of time! Next time we are in Strawberry, we will make time to hike Tonto Natural Bridge, go to the Verde Hot Springs, and see the Natural Springs at Fossil Creek (and more)!
