My Word For 2017 Is…

January 4, 2017

2016 was a different year, for me personally, for our family, and for my business. Personally, I experienced setbacks in my anxiety/depression when my son was diagnosed with craniosynostosis and needed surgery. I also had to deal with personal issues I had placed on the back-burner… Finally coming face-to-face with those issues was excruciating, but the healthy confrontation I needed.  Our family grew in 2016 and it has been the best thing ever. My husband, daughters and I are absolutely obsessed with our newest little babe. He completes our family. Professionally, 2016 was an exceptional year. My brand, The Garcia Diaries, grew by leaps and bounds. I have had so many wonderful opportunities and have worked with incredible companies, from my favorite small shops like Nickel & Suede, The Silver Loft and RubyClaire Boutique to big companies/brands like Hello Fresh, LIFE Cereal, and the Hilton. 2017 is going to be even bigger and better, and we have some absolutely amazing things coming your way!

My word for 2017 is GROWTH. I want to focus on growth in all aspects of my life: personal, professional, and family. Professionally, 2016 was a year of growth but not intentionally. In 2017, I am going to be intentional about growth with my brand and focus only on projects that will help my brand to grow. As far as my personal life and for my family, I want to focus on mental growth and figuring out a better system for my anxiety. I want to focus on growth for our finances and growth for our relationships.

A few months ago, my dear friend had mentioned to me that I had outgrown my blog logo and site design. I agreed but didn’t feel like I had the energy and time for a rebrand. She convinced me that it was a necessity for my brand and we started brainstorming. I went back and forth on changing the name of my brand/website, but ultimately decided to stick with “The Garcia Diaries” for a few different reasons. The first reason being SEO. I didn’t want to lose any traffic by changing my name. The main reason I decided to stick with TGD is because it truly describes everything my brand originated from and everything it is meant to be. It is the diary of my family and everything we love: from recipes to home decor to fashion to real motherhood. So many late nights and emails and phone calls and thousands of text messages went into this rebrand. And I am so excited to announce that after months and months of hard work, THE NEW SITE IS LIVE!

A HUGE thank you to Heather of Viva La Violet and Jessica of JP Creative Design. My rebrand would not have been a success without you ladies!!!
