How We Chose Bronx’s “Big Girl” Car Seat

April 29, 2019

This post is sponsored by Chicco, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

We brought Bronx home in an infant car seat and it worked great for our family for a few months. But lately, carrying the car seat with her in it has become a very uncomfortable task. Because usually, not only am I carrying her car seat, I am also carrying her older brother (age 2.5) who has been an absolute nightmare since his little sister was born. That being said, we’ve been on the hunt for a car seat that works for our family, that fits comfortably in our van (which has 4 car seats total), and that we can trust to keep our precious bundle of joy safe.

After some research, we found the Chicco NextFit Zip Convertible Car Seat (ours is in the color Juniper). First of all, this is the top-rated convertible car seat from multiple review sources. That’s what immediately caught my attention about this seat. The seat’s DuoGuard provides two layers of side-impact protection with a deep rigid shell and EPS energy-absorbing foam. The seat shell is also reinforced with a steel frame. I love knowing that Bronx is safe and protected while in her car seat… that’s the MOST important thing.

I also love that the car seat can be used in multiple stages – it goes from rear-facing to forward-facing and accommodates growth from 5-65 pounds. It also has a removable newborn positioner that provides a proper fit from 5-11 pounds.

It’s also SO easy to install, you guys. I cannot stand car seats that are confusing and take hours to figure out how to put it in the car. The NextFit Zip has a SuperCinch force-multiplying tightener and LockSure belt-locking system make it easy to achieve a tight fit with LATCH or with the vehicle seat belt. DuoGuard provides two layers of side-impact protection with a deep rigid shell and EPS energy-absorbing foam. The seat shell is also reinforced with a steel frame.

Bronx actually likes car rides now and I 100% think it has to do with her new car seat! We went on a trip to the Grand Canyon a few weeks ago, which is about a 4-hour drive for us. She was looking out the window smiling and laughing! It was so cute. And I’m so thankful she did well.

The Chicco NextFit Zip is available for $299.99 on ChiccoUSA.com, and the entire NextFit Convertible Car Seat line was recently restyled to offer families comfort and convenience options at price points that work with any budget.
