We’re almost through October, a month that is very important to me for so many different reasons. In case you don’t know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. In past Octobers, I’ve shared stories from women in my life who have been diagnosed and then have overcome breast cancer. Words cannot begin to describe the gratefulness I feel towards the women who are strong and brave enough to share their stories with the world. It can’t be easy. From my aunt, to my mom’s best friend, to teachers… breast cancer has touched my life in more ways than I wish to admit, and that’s why I am so passionate about helping raise awareness towards this cruel disease.
One of my favorite stores, JCPenney, is passionate about raising awareness, too. They curated an entire collection, the “Race Together” Collection by Xersion. From 9/1-10/31, 2017, $1 from each item sold of the Race Together Collection will be contributed to the American Cancer Society, up to $100,000. We ordered a few pieces from the Race Together collection and absolutely love them! Not only are they affordable and incredible quality, the message of hope is strong and clear. Plus, the athleisure styles are on-trend, in style, and super comfortable.
Not only are they donating a portion of the proceeds from the Race Together Collection, but they have so many different opportunities in store to help raise awareness or even to donate.
Throughout the month of October The Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney will be accepting donations and customers have the opportunity to win a basket of Salon & Sephora products. All month long, customers can enjoy a “Find Your Perfect Pink” lip service at where through the month of October, customers can visit Sephora inside JCPenney to find their perfect pink lip color.
And friends, please remember to check your boobies!! Early detection saves lives. And here are resources for doing self exams! Adult women of all ages are encouraged to perform breast self-exams at least once a month. Johns Hopkins Medical center states, “Forty percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular breast self-exam is very important.” While mammograms can help you to detect cancer before you can feel a lump, breast self-exams help you to be familiar with how your breasts look and feel so you can alert your healthcare professional if there are any
Head in stores this October to purchase the Race Together Collection and support the fight against breast cancer.
