5 Must-Have Products for the Diaper Bag

When you become a mom, you trade your stylish purse for a diaper bag filled with all the on-the-go essentials a baby could possibly need. I’ve had three kids over the past four years, so I’ve tried many different products and packed most in our diaper bag. Some have been great; others didn’t live up to the hype. So finally, after years of experience, I’ve narrowed my diaper bag down to 5 must-have essentials.

You don’t need to pack the entire nursery, I promise! We don’t leave home without these 5 things ready to go in our diaper bag, and neither should you!

#1 Diapers and wipes. Seems obvious, right? Babies need diaper changes, especially at inconvenient times. In restaurants, during car rides, in the middle of church, you name it! Diapers and wipes are always the first thing to go in the bag.

#2 A pacifier (or teething toy). If your little babe doesn’t love pacis, bring a teething toy for them to chew on or play with! Luckily, my first two babies loved their paci, while my third baby preferred sucking on a teething toy!

#3 Aquaphor Fast Relief Diaper Rash Paste. Diaper rashes are also inevitable. Aquaphor has a new formula (different from the well-known Healing Ointment) and I now swear by it! My kids feel better after just one use. It is hypoallergenic and free of parabens, talc and fragrances (unlike other diaper creams) and has no unpleasant odor. It is super smooth, goes on gently, cleans off easily and it protects all night long!! My kids have sensitive skin and get diaper rashes often. With my first two kids, we struggled to find a brand that worked consistently and we could trust to protect my kids’ bums. Luckily, with my third baby, we’ve used and loved Aquaphor!! We don’t leave home without it and even have a tube on our bedside table for nighttime use.

#4. A swaddle blanket. What I love about swaddle blankets is that they can be used to keep the baby warm, as a cover, or as a burp cloth!

#5. Boogie wipes. Especially during winter, we can’t leave home without boogie wipes for my kids’ runny noses! During the weather changes and colder seasons, my babies constantly need their noses wiped.

After years and years of experience, I’ve learned that simple and easy will always win when it comes to motherhood. You don’t need to bring 15 different things every time you go out, or stuff your diaper bag to the point that it’s hard to zip!

What essentials would you pack in your diaper bag? Tell me in the comments!
