Last week I had the honor of speaking at Pinners Conference in Scottsdale, AZ. It was such an amazing experience! I got to meet friends of mine IRL that I’ve known for over a year online (Hey Jess and Britt!) and meet a ton of new friends! The conference was like stepping into Pinterest, with top DIYers and bloggers teaching classes ranging from Fall Tablescapes to Braids to Watercolor Painting! And then to top it all off, there were at least a hundred small shops set up, selling their gorgeous clothing, artwork, beauty products, home decor, furniture and more!! Seriously… it was amazing.
My class was called “How To Style: Mama’s and Babes” and it was a lot of fun! I talked all about style for moms and littles, shared my passion for small shops, gave away free clothes/jewelry and shared exclusive discount codes to my favorite small shops!
I can’t share my entire presentation, but I’m going to share the highlights with you all! If you are on the hunt for play date attire, date night attire, mommy + me shirts, fun graphic tees, and trendy clothing for fall and winter… I’ve got you covered!
Play date attire could be for a day at Legoland, a park visit, a mall trip or a play date at a friend’s house. When you’re on a play date, you want to be comfortable but also cute! For warm Arizona falls, these bloomers from Mama Sew Happy are perfection! They come in so many fall colors and are the perfect versatile fall piece. I also love this hat from Urban Attic Boutique. It goes with EVERYTHING.
I styled the “Donut” tee two different ways. The first look is more street style, with ripped skinnies and vans. The second is a little more feminine, with the hat that I love so much, dainty necklace, and flared jeans! Also, Deuce’s playdate apparel is gray harems and a matching bibdana! Comfy and cute!
Accessories can make or break your closet (and your bank). Investing in versatile accessories will change your life–and your wardrobe! The shoes, hat and necklace shown above can be styled so many different ways. They match both dresses (and probably everything in your closet) so they can be endlessly styled and worn!
As an example, I dressed these fringe wedges and statement necklace two very different ways. These are two very versatile pieces in my closet that I wear ALL the time!
Mustard, peach, and maroon are the trendiest fall colors. My favorite color for my kids is mustard, because of their skin tone and dark eyes. These colors scream fall and a lot of shops have pieces that can be transitioned from summer to fall and are perfect for warm fall days in Arizona (like the sunsuits from Mama Sew Happy pictured above).
Plaid is also in right now. Whether it’s the focal point of the outfit or a small piece, plaid can take your winter wardrobe to the next level. Side note: Little boys with plaid button downs wrapped around their waist are GOALS.
Hats & hoods may not be considered a “trend” but I’m loving them right now. Some shops have little bunny or bear ears on their hoods, which are totally swoonworthy! Other shops offer bonnets and fur pom hats with the cutest prints.
For mama’s, I am LOVING dark floral pieces for fall. Whether it’s in the form of tunics, tops, or dresses… Dark floral patterns are perfect for fall. Obviously, olive tones are HUGE for fall as well!!
And just like with kids, plaid is in for mama’s, too! I love the versatility of plaid, as you can see above! They can be worn around the waist, worn as coats, or you can throw in little plaid details.
The hottest trends for jewelry this fall are tassels and chokers (woohoo, chokers are making a comeback)! Tassels were huge during summer and I love that this trend can be transitioned to fall, when you wear it correctly!
Of all the fall trends, my two favorites are dark floral and plaid. Above, you can see how I styled these two different trends!
I also love the versatility of this mama bear shirt. I styled it with shorts, a plaid shirt tied around my waist and red converse to complete a movie night look. Then a few days later, I styled it with a leather jacket, jeans, and booties.
I do mommy + me style posts on The Garcia Diaries all the time and they are always really popular! A common misconception is that you can only match your daughters, but I match my son all. the. time. I’m sure I steal my husband’s thunder half of the time, lol! I love small shops that have gender neutral stuff so that my kids can all share clothes as the years go by, it’s very sentimental (and it saves me money)!
Showered + Dressed (currently sold out), Fed + Dressed – Loved by Hannah and Eli (Use code garcia15 for 15% off)
If you’ve been around The Garcia Diaries before, you know that I have a HUGE collection of mom-themed graphic tees… I call them my momiform. From “mama bear” to “world’s most adequate mom”, I have a tee for every occasion. I LOVE styling these tees up and dressing them down. You can wear these tees with yoga pants/mom bun or booties/leather jacket, and that’s what makes these tees so much fun and so versatile!
I mean, I had to prove it to you guys. I really am obsessed with graphic tee’s!!! And bonus points when I can match my sweet babes. (For shirt sources, please check Instagram or send me a message!)
Also, I can’t forget to mention Prickly Pear Lane! Deuce wore their shorts to Pinners and he looked SO CUTE. After my class, we stopped by their boutique and the girls picked out the cutest dinosaur toys. Check out their shop, because their stuff is to die for!
I’d love to hear from YOU. What is your favorite trend for fall/winter?
Thank you to Melodee Lynn Photography for capturing the Play Date Attire photos! :)
