Growing up, my stockings were filled with socks, chocolates, trinkets, and basically anything that helped fill that sucker up. I am NOT complaining. I had a wonderful childhood and everything I could possibly want (and more). But as a mom myself now, I refuse to mindlessly put trinkets in my kid’s stockings when I know they are rarely going to be played with, end up in the trash, or better yet – end up in the abyss known as the toy chest.
