Cranio Deuce Featured Garcia Family

9 Months of Deuce

Nine months ago today, Deuce came into the world. It was a few minutes past midnight and I had been in labor for almost 20 hours. Labor was rough and I was on oxygen because of his heart rate dropping. He came out sunny side up with the cord wrapped around his neck and had a bit of a rough start. And of course, he was diagnosed with cranio at 2 months old and had surgery at 3 months.

Now here we are at 9 months and Deuce is the happiest baby ever. He brings us so much joy!! You would never know how much he’s been through by looking at him. He has been late on all of his milestones, but the last few weeks he has been doing incredible! Two weeks ago he started sitting up. Four days ago, he started pulling himself up!! And yesterday, he started waving!!! I cannot believe how much he is growing. (These are milestones that we were told he might not reach until after his first birthday – due to his condition.) He weighs almost as much as his two year old sister. He still nurses all night long and throughout the day, but has started eating table food 3 times a day! He still has no teeth. He can say “mama” and “dada” and “googoo gaga” and has just started saying “no!”

In a few days, we will be meeting with his neurosurgeon to discuss his progress and make a game plan for the next few years. Best case scenario, he won’t have to have any more surgeries!! We would appreciate any prayers/good thoughts sent our way!

I can’t believe Deuce is 3 months away from his first birthday… Time, please slow down!
